The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disable to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.

Housing Choice Voucher Program

Waiting list status: Closed

The Housing Authority of Joliet’s Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program waiting list is currently CLOSED and has been closed for any new applications since March 2010.

Unfortunately, we are unable to determine when our waiting list will re-open at this time. When the waiting list re-opens for the submission of pre-applications, a public announcement will be placed on this website and in local and minority newspapers. Additionally, we will send notices to local service agencies.

Public Housing Program

Waiting list status: Open

Stevenson Crossing will begin accepting pre-applications on March 1, 2024 at 12:00 am July 1, 2026 for 1 and 2 bedrooms ONLINE only. The waitlist will close on March 31, 2024 October 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Head of Household MUST be 62+ years old.

Applications will be accepted and placed on the waitlist based on date and time received. If you have any questions, you can contact the office at 779-206-4816. 815-727-0611, ext. 100.
